Southern Spear is a raggedy loop starting and finishing in Johannesburg.

Riding out through the wide open spaces of the highveld plains you will enjoy a few days exploring the legendary mountain passes and roads of the Northern Drakensburg including God's Window, Blyde River Canyon and much more. An evening sun-downers Game Drive into Kruger National Park will be an exiting adventure within the adventure.


The tour continues through the beautiful mountainous Kingdom of Swaziland, the worlds last ruling monarchy often referred to as Switzerland in Africa, you will spend a night in the Izulwini Valley.


After a ride from the North West to the South East of Swaziland its back into South Africa as you enter the Kingdom of the Zulu people, Zululand (Kwazulu Natal Province) travelling down to St Lucia Estuary. A full rest day in the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Greater St Lucia Wetlands National Park which will be the jewel in the centre of the tour and include a beach Braai (BBQ) and snorkeling in the rock-pools situated within the reserve. The Estuary is an unspoiled and extremely diverse ecosystem   


Continuing through Zululand via the Eastern Coast and the Valley of a Thousand Hills Zululand you ride on to the spectacular Oribi Gorge a beautiful green Canyon which you will explore on foot for a few hours. Heading inland we then skirt the mighty Southern and Central Drakensburg (Dragons Mountains) with its quaint hamlets and villages on the Midlands Meander route before heading into the "Berg".  Entering the breathtaking Golden Gate National Park with its unique sandstone crags you’ll spend two nights in the peaceful foothills of the Drakensburg mountains.These two night stay will be encapsulated by a ride into the mountain Kingdom of Lesotho right in to the heart of the Drakensburg or Maluti Mountains as it is called in Lesotho; heading up to Katse Dam.  The dam is a massive engineering feat nestled in the "Berg". 


After a final dinner and a good nights rest our last day will start with a sumptuous farm-style breakfast before riding back to Johannesburg via the vast open spaces of the Free State before entering the greater Gauteng metropolis.
