LOWVELD LEGEND TOUR (8 days / 7 nights)

Upcoming Tour: 15 to 22 Dec 2012
JHB - Northern Drakensburg - Lowveld - Kruger Park - JHB

The lowveld legend route can be enjoyed all year round as South Africa’s winter is extremely mild in this area with temperatures staying well above freezing at night and occasionally into the upper 20 Celsius. Summers are warm occasionally around the 40 Celsius mark. The area is punctuated with the best concentration of motorcycling roads on the planet today. A myriad of mountain passes and ports cover the landscape with the geography of the area lending itself to some of the most amazing and diverse scenery.

Tours depart and return to Johannesburg. We ride out via the highveld (highlands) plains before plunging down the mighty Northern Drakensburg Range and into the warm Lowveld (lowlands). The week is spent exploring this land of myth and legend where transport riders hunted wild game on their trek while bringing in mining supplies to the gold fields during the late 1800s Gold Rush.

A rest day is encapsulated by a two night Bush Camp stay with the mid tour rest day spent 'Big 5' Game seeking from the seat of an open safari vehicle into the Kruger National Park.  Kruger is famous for thousands of species of indigenous African Wildlife in their natural habitat. The best time of the year to view game is between seasons during autumn and spring, winter is also ideally placed for game viewing.

After a day in Kruger we continue to explore the amazing roads and scenery in the area including God's Window, Blyde River Canyon, Abel Erasmus Pass, Long Tom Pass to name a few.
